Grants to Support Initiatives for Children and Youth in Kansas (USA)
GrantID: 75042
Grant Funding Amount Low: $1,000
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: $15,000
Summary
This grant is open to nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3)) or governmental entities. The purpose is to support projects that improve health outcomes by promoting physical activity, healthy eating, and by making policy, systems, or environmental changes that make healthier lifestyles easier in everyday environments like schools, childcare centers, community centers, neighborhoods, workplaces, and places of worship. The goal is to reduce risk of chronic disease—including diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers—by helping residents develop more favorable diet and activity habits.
There are two funding tracks. One is aimed primarily at benefiting children (ages 0‑18) and their families, and another is for the general adult or public population. Grants are expected to range from about $1,000 up to $15,000. In total, there is a larger pool set aside for child‑focused or family‑focused projects (up to about $80,000), and a smaller portion for adult/general public projects (up to about $20,000).
Prefers projects that have measurable outcomes, are sustainable beyond the grant term, show collaboration among different local organizations or sectors, and align with a local health plan particularly in areas like food security and healthy built environments.
Some things not eligible include requests from individuals, funding for endowments, multi‑year grants, event sponsorships, fundraising, or political/lobbying activities. Also excluded are efforts that are primarily for advertising, or costs like memberships or tickets, etc.
